Did you know that a dietician is also a lifestyle coach? And she already has all the training / experience for lifestyle coaching?
Your lifestyle is also discussed in a large part of the treatments. Not only the diet, treatment by a dietitian is much broader.
The Lifestyle Coach is currently hot. Anyone with an HBO education can do a course. They learn the aspects of a healthy life: good sleep, sufficient relaxation, not smoking, not drinking too much alcohol, nutrition and sufficient exercise. This means that a lifestyle coach is far from a dietician and also not a substitute for a dietician .
In a year's time, a lifestyle coach teaches all aspects of a healthier life, including nutrition. A dietician has a 4-year HBO education in the field of nutrition and dietetics, followed by post-HBO training specifically aimed at the area in which a dietician works. For example, for people with Diabetes Mellitus there are additional courses at post-HBO level. The level of education and knowledge skills between dieticians and lifestyle coaches is very high and depends on prior education.
If you are going to participate in a lifestyle coaching program, it may be wise to also go to a dietician for nutritional guidance. For many people, general advice based on the disc of 5 is not sufficient and does not help you enough to achieve your goal. You can be referred by your lifestyle coach or general practitioner, but you can also ask for a referral for a dietician. This is particularly important in the case of a medical indication and the use of medicines. See also the info at Lifestyle coaching.
